ACT CRICOS PROVIDER NUMBER 02650E
Malyon College is a ministry of Queensland Baptists
Some of the key reasons people choose to study at Malyon are –
BIBLICAL FOCUS | We are committed to submitting to Scripture in all our teaching and to developing graduates who can think biblically. The Bible is the foundation of our learning.
FULL ACCREDITATION | Malyon’s degrees are fully accredited with the Australian College of Theology (ACT) (CRICOS PROVIDER NUMBER 02650E). The ACT operates through independent colleges as a consortium. Malyon delivers ACT courses, which means your degree will be recognized throughout Australia and the world. This also means Malyon’s students can apply for FEE-HELP and Austudy if their circumstances satisfy Centrelink criteria. Malyon is also accredited by Queensland Baptists (the Baptist Union of Queensland) for training baptist pastors. Malyon offers one non-accredited course – the Malyon Pastoral Award – designed primarily for those who are seeking accreditation for Baptist ministry, but do not wish to complete a fourth year of accredited study.
EXCELLENCE & FLEXIBILITY IN TEACHING | We provide an environment of cutting-edge theological and educational excellence in which teachers are both scholars, leaders, and pastors, and students are provided with extensive resources and flexible modes of learning. At Malyon, you can complete your degree on-campus or by distance, part-time or full-time, making it easy for you to study in your particular circumstances.
PRACTICAL APPLICATION | We consistently apply biblical principals to life and ministry and offer integrative subjects, field education and mentoring groups that assist students to apply what they are learning. Many of the subjects we offer focus on practical ministry.
STUDENT SERVICES | Many of our students are returning to study after years of working, or are studying at a tertiary level for the first time. At Malyon we understand that this can be a little daunting. So we make it easy by explaining up-front how everything works, who you can contact if you need assistance, and by offering re-fresher courses (for things like using the library) during Orientation each semester. We also offer students 24 hour access to the library, making it easy for them to study at times that suit them personally. We employ a team of tutors, mentors and a chaplain, to assist both on-campus and on-line students with their learning and assessment. We also employee a full-time student Chaplin to support students
CAMPUS FACILITIES | Our facilities are second-to-none. We cater for the day-to-day needs of students by providing kitchen facilities, recreation spaces, dedicated quiet study spaces, and a small number of rooms available for students whose study needs include access to overnight or short-term accommodation. We are located only a short walk from Mitchelton train station and an even shorter walk from the bus terminal at Brookside Shopping Centre. There is free student parking on and around campus. And of course, there is free wifi throughout campus.
COMMUNITY HEART | Malyon is not purely a tertiary institution; it is a community of growing Christians. We are a vibrant Christian community of students and staff (both on-campus and on-line) who worship, learn, think, pray and relax together. We offer a whole floor on campus for the Malyon community to worship, unwind, eat, interact and have fun. We intentionally foster a culture of care, encouragement and personal growth, and strive to ensure that every student feels that they are accepted and an integral part of our community. Time after time graduates speak of the camaraderie, the friendships, and the relationships they developed at Malyon.
