STUDYING MINISTRY

Aims
• to provide training that emphasises the application of the Bible to the contemporary world;
• to focus your attention upon applying your knowledge to ministry in the fields of Evangelism, Missions, Pastoring and Church ministry.

Entry requirements
If you are under 21 years of age, these courses require an OP15 result or its equivalent.
If you are 21 or over you can enter as a mature age student with no educational requirements.

Diploma of Ministry

Duration: 1 year full-time or up to 4 years part-time
Workload: 8 units

Advanced Diploma of Ministry

Duration: 1.5 years and up to 6 years full-time
Workload: 12 units

Associate Degree of Ministry

Duration: 2 years full-time and up to 6 years part-time
Workload: 16 units

Bachelor of Ministry

Duration: 3 years full-time and up to 9 years part-time
Workload: 24 units
Explanation: This is the preferred degree for most students who are intending to pursue vocational ministry in church, or christian agencies. It provides a comprehensive course for studying the Old and New Testaments, Church History, Theology and Ministry.

What you need to know about a Bachelor of Ministry

  • The maximum period in which to complete the course is 9 years
  • You have to complete 96cps, which is the equivalent of 24 subjects (or units)
  • You can’t enrol in more than 20cps or 5 subjects per semester
  • When enrolling in a 400 level subject make sure that you have enrolled in any co-requisite subject or completed any pre-requisite subject
  • required for that unit
  • You can enrol in a 600 level original language subject but realise that you will be taught and assessed at the 600 level
  • You can enrol in a maximum of 16cps or 4 subjects at the 500/600 level but only after you have completed 64cps or 8 subjects at the
  • 300/400 level
  • You can’t enrol in more than 40cps or 10 subjects at the 300 level (not including Language-LA subjects)


STUDYING THEOLOGY

Aims
• to develop your knowledge of God primarily in the fields of Biblical Languages, Biblical Exegesis, Theology and Church History
• to provide a basis for ministry practices by establishing a solid biblical and theological foundation

What you need to know about a Bachelor of Theology

  • This course requires successful completion of 96cps
  • The time limit for this course is 9 years
  • Exegesis – a minimum of 4 cps from OT and 4 cps from NT
  • Up to 16cps of 500/600 level units can be taken if 64cps have been successfully completed
  • No more than 40cps of foundational level units (300 level units) excluding LA units
