If you already have a Bachelor’s degree in any field and now you want to study Christian theology and ministry, then you may want to consider one of these courses.

Available courses

Graduate Certificate of Divinity

Duration: 6 months full-time or up to 2 years part-time
Workload: 4 units

Explanation: This Certificate and the Graduate Diploma of Divinity courses can be studied as short term courses for extending your theological knowledge and ministry skills or be completed as the first stages towards completing the Master of Ministry or the Master of Divinity courses.

Graduate Diploma of Divinity

Duration: 1 year and up to 4 years full-time
Workload: 8 units

Master of Divinity

Duration: 3 years full-time and up to 9 years part-time
Workload: 20-23 units with a project equivalent to 1-4 units

Master of Divinity students are required to complete 96 credit points of 500-600 level units over 3 years full-time or up to 9 years part-time. This equates to completing 24 units including one unit as a ‘capstone experience”, or completing 22 units plus a project that is equivalent to two units.

There are two early exit points: Students who complete 16 credit points over 6 months full time or up to 2 years part-time may be awarded a Graduate Certificate of Divinity. Students who complete 32 credit points over one year full time or over 4 years part-time may be awarded a Graduate Diploma of Divinity.

What you need to know:

  • This course requires successful completion of 96cps.
  • The time limit for this course is 9 years.
  • You can’t do more than 20cps in any semester
  • You can’t do more than 40cps (10 units) as 500 level units. Note, The LA units are not counted in the 40cps.
  • To take 600 level units you have to make sure that you have complied with any pre-requisite or co-requisite conditions for those units.
  • You cannot take more than 2 units that are designated as Field Education units
  • You must complete 64cps (16 units) before you can take any 700 level units (MA units). If you do choose to do 700 level units, you need to know     that the credit for these units cannot be transferred to an MA course.
  • As part of the above units (in elective section or otherwise) all students must complete: a **690, 8cps, 12,000 words Project; or a **795, 8 cps, 14,000 words Project; or a 4cps unit taken as a Capstone Experience
  • 25% (24cps) of the M.Min (extended) course must be taken in distinct graduate level units at 500, 600 or 700 level.
  • A maximum of 12cps may be taken as Type B elective units
  • A maximum of 16cps may be studied in DSC (Direct Study Contract) mode including no more than 8cps in any one field of study


Master of Ministry

Duration: 3 years full-time and up to 9 years part-time
Workload: 20-23 units with a project equivalent to 1-3 units

Master of Ministry students are required to complete 96 credit points of 500-600 level units over 3 years full-time or up to 9 years part-time. This equates to completing 24 units including one unit as a ‘capstone experience”, or completing 22 units plus a project that is equivalent to two units.

There are two early exit points: Students who complete 16 credit points over 6 months full time or up to 2 years part-time may be awarded a Graduate Certificate of Divinity. Students who complete 32 credit points over one year full time or over 4 years part-time may be awarded a Graduate Diploma of Divinity.
